Genus
Spiniphora
Malloch, 1909
This is a relatively small genus with about 20 species from the Palaearctic, Nearctic and Oriental regions. Only
S. signata
Schmitz, 1935
was previously recorded in
Israel
(
Disney & Nussbaum, 1990
;
Lengyel, 2011a
), being now known from both the coastal plain and Judean hills. Another species,
S. bergenstammi
(Mik, 1864)
was erroneously indicated for the
Israeli
fauna by
Disney & Nussbaum (1990)
, being collected in Sidon,
Lebanon
. However, quite expectedly this Holarctic species is present in
Israel
as well.
