Substitution of some species-level names in the tribe Hygrotini Portevin, 1929 (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae: Hydroporinae) Author Fery, Hans text Zootaxa 2017 2017-11-01 4341 3 425 427 journal article 31668 10.11646/zootaxa.4341.3.8 698feb93-072e-4f58-8f24-706cf6f5d8e5 1175-5326 1040101 4B16ECCB-D4E0-466C-8074-9BA4C559FA42 Herophydrus ovalis Gschwendtner, 1932 Herophydrus ovalis Gschwendtner, 1932 : 263 was transferred to genus Hygrotus subgenus Hygrotus (s. str.) by Villastrigo et al . (2017b) . Thus, this name became a junior secondary homonym of Hygrotus (s. str.) ovalis ( Thunberg, 1784: 19 ) , which was originally published in the binomen Dytiscus ovalis . The latter name is currently treated as subjective junior synonym of Hygrotus ( Leptolambus ) impressopunctatus ( Schaller, 1783 ) . Additionally, Thunberg's name is an invalid junior primary homonym of Dytiscus ovalis Ström, 1768 : 328 (which is a nomen dubium); however, both names are available names and enter into homonymy. According to Biström & Nilsson (2002: 60) , Hygrotus (s. str.) wahlbergi ( Omer-Cooper, 1956: 363 ) —published in the binomen Herophydrus wahlbergi —is a subjective junior synonym and is hereby taken to substitute Gschwendtner's name.
