Extralimital distribution: Africa, Iberian Peninsula, southwestern Europe north to Hungary and Romania , Azerbaijan and Turkey to Israel , Transcaspia, Pakistan and India . Remarks: Tachysphex fulvicornis and T. quadrifurci were effectively synonymized with T. brevipennis by Pulawski (2007) . Straka & Schmid-Egger (2017) treated both T. fulvicornis and T. quadrifurci as valid species, however, stating that two morphological forms are present in the Arabian Peninsula. The synonymy of both with T. brevipennis was reconfirmed by Pulawski (2019) who considered the evidence provided insufficient to justify Straka & Schmid-Egger’s stance.
