Fastigium verticis forming a right angle with fastigium frontis; pronotum with a distinct humeral sinus; anterior coxa without spine, though in some species a minute spinule may be present; anterior femur on ventral side furrowed, provided with small spines; anterior tibia dorsally furrowed with dorsoapical spurs; tibial tympana covered with conchate fold with wider anterior slit on both sides or on the internal side only; tegmina fully developed, hind wings surpassing tegmina in both sexes; male sub-genital plate without styli; ovipositor usually falcate, rarely sabre shaped, little longer than pronotum. The species of Elimaea Stål, 1874 reported from India as per checklist include the following eight: Elimaea lanceolata (Walker) Elimaea melanocantha (Walker) Elimaea securigera Brunner von Wattenwyl Elimaea subcarinata (Stål) Elimaea carispina Ingrisch & Shishodia Elimaea insignis (Walker) Elimaea bidentata Brunner von Wattenwyl Elimaea nigrosignata Bolivar The above checklist reporting Elimaea species from India does not include E . thaii , E . chloris , E . nautica and E . subcarinata sp. nov. , which is different from E . subcarinata . The species E . nautica has been recorded by us from India for the first time, which was earlier reported by Ingrisch (1998) from Thailand and the Indo-China region. Our collections were from Meghalaya state that falls into the Indo-China border area.
