New species, new records and checklist of cicadas from Mexico (Hemiptera: Cicadomorpha: Cicadidae) Author Sanborn, Allen F. This species has been reported from Mexico , Texas and Arizona ( Metcalf 1963 a ). However, the Arizona specimens actually represent a new species (Sanborn et al. unpublished) and the Texas report appears to be erroneous as we have never encountered C. dissimilis in Texas nor found C. dissimilis collected in Texas in visits to more than 100 entomological collections. Cacama dissimilis is considered to be a Mexican species. It has been reported from Baja California Sur, Espiritu Santo Island and Ballanda Island ( Metcalf 1963 a ). The author has identified specimens from Hidalgo and Sinaloa.
