Remarks.
Mantispa femoralis
Banks, 1933
, was described from Coorg in
Karnataka
. However, Navás (1914) had already described a species from North America with same name. Therefore,
M. femoralis
Banks
was a junior primary homonym of
M. femoralis
Navás, 1914
, and was replaced by
Ohl (2004a)
, with the replacement name based on the
type
locality, as
M. coorgensis
. It is very similar to
Mantispilla indica
Westwood
, but can be differentiated by the dark pterostigma of each wing, the dark streak on each femur, and the dark bases of the tibiae. So, based on these characteristics, which are actually the diagnostic characteristics of
Mantispilla
, this species is placed in
Mantispilla
as
Mantispilla coorgensis
comb. nov.
