M. sangaica
was originally described from Shanghai, and the nominotypical subspecies is only known from China and Vietnam (
Arita & Gorbunov, 1995a
,

). The subspecies
nipponica
Arita & Yata, 1987 occurs in Japan. Several specimens were collected while visiting white flowering trees along a river valley.
