Nemotois amphimetalla: Meyrick 1912b: 8 ; Clarke 1955: 43 . Diagnosis. Nemophora amphimetalla is similar to N. chrysocrossa ( Figs. 43, 44 ), from which it differs by the narrow yellow band in the forewing fascia, long PLB and valvae fused to the vinculum. Nemophora amphimetalla also resembles N. fletcherella ( Fig. 57 ), from which it differs by the glossy golden frons, shorter valvae (not reaching the tip of tegumen) and larger extent of the basal fusion between valvae, and N. solstitiella ( Figs. 50, 51 ), from which it differs by the absence of the yellow longitudinal spot at the forewing base, shorter PLB and the large lobe on the ventral margin of valva. Description. Male ( Fig. 45 ). FWL 5.8 mm , WLR 0.36‒0.40. Vertex with row of dark brown piliform scales along occipital margin; frons glossy golden, with lateral rows of dark brown piliform scales and with few yellow scales below antennal sockets (bases of these scales are overlapped by appressed golden scales). PLB 0.8‒0.9 × vertical eye diameter (1.8‒2.0 × length of scape), light brown, with sparse raised brown piliform scales. Proboscis light brown. Eyes enlarged, closely approaching but not touching each other; interocular index 1.05‒1.10; occipital distance 0.07. Antenna 2.5 × FWL. Scape coppery brown dorsally, glossy golden ventrally; base of flagellum brown; proximal 15‒17 flagellomeres dorsally with raised brown scales; distal part of flagellum brown to light brown dorsolaterally and white to grey ventrally. Tegulae and thorax bronze. Forewing ( Fig. 95 ) brown; basal part densely scattered with yellow scales; apical part covered by a mixture of dark brown, light brown and bronze scales; internal margin of narrow (0.05‒0.10 × FWL) pale yellow transverse band at 0.43 × FWL; this band on both sides bordered by dark brown lines and surrounded by silver bands, which are slightly narrower than yellow band. Fringe bronze. Hindwing grey; costal area light grey; fringe grey. Coxae and femurae brown; tibiae and all tarsomeres light yellow except for distal parts which are brown dorsally. Epiphysis at 0.6, reaching apex of tibia. Abdomen brown dorsally to bronze ventrally. Female unknown. Male genitalia ( Figs. 127 , 157 ). Tegumen dome-shaped, with prominent medial ridge. Socii elongate, 0.8‒1.0 × diameter of phallus. Vinculum 2.6 × length of valva, V-shaped, with slightly convex lateral margins and Wshaped distal margin. Tip of tegumen slightly extends beyond tips of valvae. Ventral valvar margin with large (0.7 × valvar length) lobe directed ventrally (see from the side); dorsal valvar margin almost straight; tip of valva narrowly rounded. Valvae fused up to 0.2 × total length, and also fused to median part of vinculum; internal valvar margins indistinct. Anellus 0.3 × length of valva. Transtilla with long medial process. Juxta 0.6 × length of phallus; arrow-head moderately wide (WLR 0.47), with pointed tip and short pointed lateral arms. Phallus 1.0 × length of vinculum, almost straight, with two thin carinae articulated at 0.75 × length of phallus (counting from its base); base of phallus narrowly funnel-shaped; tip flattened laterally, forming hook-like structure. Distribution. India ( Tamil Nadu ).
