Material in MHNG , Lamarck collection: holotype MHNG INVE 51710 ( ex MHNG 1098/12 ) (figured herein, Fig. 10A ), 14.5 cm . There are faded remains of handwritten inscriptions (by Lamarck?) inside the aperture of the shell. This specimen is figured in the Tableau , but is not the one subsequently figured by Kiener. Locality on the label: Mer Rouge . Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained just one specimen . Kiener probably figured another specimen from the Paris Museum. Current taxonomic position: Fusinus ansatus ( Gmelin, 1791 ) ; placed in synonymy with Fusinus ansatus by Hadorn and Rogers (2000) : 10. Locality is the Caribbean.
