This species is distributed in the Celebes Sea (G.O. Sars 1883 ; 1885 ), Indonesia , Bay of Bengal ( Hansen 1910 ; Pillai 1973 ), Great Barrier Reef (W.M. Remarks. G.O. Sars (1883) originally described this species as Promysis pusilla , where he in 1885, transferred the species to Anchialus pusillus . And in 1910, Hansen revised several genera in Gastrosaccinae and placed A . pusillus in his newly established Pseudanchialina . This species is very similar to P . inermis , however, they can be distinguished by the following characters: in P . pusilla , the rostrum is rounded and lateral margins of the telson is armed with 3–5 spines, while in P . inermis , the rostrum is subtriangular and the lateral margins of the telson armed with 6–9 spines ( Hansen 1910 ).
