Comments.
Spencer & Stegmaier (1973)
suggested that
Calycomyza bahamarum
is a leaf-miner of plants in the family
Verbenaceae
due to the similarity of its male genitalia with those of three other leaf miner species restricted to this plant family, namely:
C. durante
Spencer,
C. lantanae
(Frick)
, and
C. verbenae
(Hering)
. In the present study,
C. bahamarum
was observed to
form mines
on leaves of
Stachytarpheta cayennensis
,
thus confirming its association with the
Verbenaceae
family.
