Dendrolycosa cruciata ,— Blandin 1979 : 365 , figs 16, 21, 30 (Transfer from Cispiolus ). FIGURES 30–33. Dendrolycosa cruciata (Roewer 1955) , holotype, female from Tanzania. 30 Epigyne, ventral view. 31 Vulva dorsal view. 32 Schematic course of internal duct system. 33 Opisthosoma, dorsal view (from Roewer 1955, not to scale). FIGURES 34–38. Dendrolycosa spp., habitus (34, 37 dorsal view; 35, 38 ventral view; 36 lateral view). 34–36 Dendrolycosa cruciata (Roewer 1955) , holotype, female from Tanzania. 37–38 Dendrolycosa spadicaria (Simon 1897) , immature syntypes from India. Diagnosis. Medium sized spiders with 10.6 mm body length and unsusual colour pattern of V-shaped chevrons on dorsal opisthosoma (see note above: artefact?). The median dark patch of colour pattern A is narrower in D. cruciata ( Fig. 33 ; see note below). Carina separated, middle field with circular central depression. Fossae broad and shallow ( Fig. 30 ). Copulatory ducts covering only part of stalk of spermathecae, not extending beyond head of spermathecae laterally ( Fig. 31 ). Slit sense organs close to epigynal field, separated from it by less than their length ( Fig. 30 ). Description. See Roewer (1955a) . Distribution. Known only from the type locality. Note. This is the only specimen known from Africa. Dendrolycosa may have a disjunct distribution pattern. However, it should be noted, that Roewer faked locality data ( Helversen & Martens 1972 ), and D. cruciata could theoretically also be an Asian representative.
