We have identified three morphologically similar species in our Kokolopori material, all belonging to the P. auritus species complex. The identification of these frogs is complicated by the high level of color polymorphism and variation in their color patterns. For example, light stripes may be missing or may occur medially or laterally, sometimes bright spots (e.g., green) are distributed in different places, etc. This species complex is currently in taxonomic revision ( V . Gvoždík et al., in prep.).
