COMMENTS
.— Both this specimen and another now in the INBAC collections were collected inside a toilet water tank, one of few available sources of standing water in the area. These specimens represent the fourth record for the species in the country. The species reaches its northern distribution in
Angola
, in Novo Redondo/Gabela,
Kwanza Sul Province
(Poynton and Haacke 1993).
Phrynomantis annectens
has previously been recorded from the Mutiambo River and Caraculo in
Namibe Province
(Poynton and Haacke 1993). The current records represent the southernmost known distribution of the species in
Angola
, however it is common in
Namibia
and
South Africa
(
Channing 2001
; du Preez and Carruthers 2009) and is likely to occur throughout the province wherever water is available.
