Note:— Gagea alexeenkoana is closely related to G. taurica Steven (1857: 83) from Turkey and Georgia . Examination of herbarium specimens did not result in the identification of any consistent differences between the two species. Both need study in the field and inclusion in molecular systematic studies in order to determine their status.
