Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Discussion: Occurs at higher elevations in Andes, and is similar in habits to Neotoma , the North American Woodrat ( Redford and Eisenberg, 1992 ). Karyotype has 2n=56 and FN=108 ( Contreras et al., 1994 ).
