Small carapace, flattened in dorsal view, well-rounded sub-triangular outline in lateral view. Carapace almost as high as long. Slight overlap of the larger LV over the RV along whole outline. Hmax slightly posterior; Lmax at 1/3 ventral; Wmax slightly postero-ventral. Dorsal margin regularly convex in its posterior part, oblique anteriorly in its anterior part. Ventral margin straight and horizontal in its middle, more convex at its extremities. Posterior margin straight and vertical in its middle, more convex at its extremities. Anterior margin regularly convex, very arched. Posterior part of the carapace clearly higher than the anterior one. Surface smooth. Discussion. A widely distributed species through Early and Middle Devonian in Europe. Our specimens more likely belong to the Praepilatina praepilata sibirica ( Polenova, 1960 ) subspecies. Becker & Sánchez de Posada (1977) and Becker et al. (2004) reported intraspecific variability with a possible postero-ventral spine, not observed in our specimens. Occurrences. Lower to Middle Givetian (Hanonet, Trois-Fontaines, Terres d’Haurs, Mont d’Haurs and Névremont Fms), Ardenne (Flohimont, Mont d’Haurs and Aisemont sections), Lower Devonian to Middle Givetian (Aguion Fm, Moniello Fm and Candás Fm, mbs A, B and C), Asturias; Eifelian to Middle/Upper Givetian, Mouthoumet Massif (Albières and Berco Petito sections), Eifelian/Givetian boundary (Chefar el Ahmar Fm), Saoura (Km 30 section); Middle Devonian, Russia ; Lower Devonian, Montagne Noire.
