Diagnosis

Xeniidae
with polyps arising directly from a spreading basal membrane. Polyps monomorphic and non-retractile. The numerous pinnules are scattered randomly on the oral surface of the tentacles and no distinct pinnule-rows can be recognized. Sclerites are ellipsoid platelets with a dendritic surface microstructure, abundant in the colony. Zooxanthellate.
