Type specimens. Holotype , F, AUSTRALIA : Queensland, Atherton, 28.iii.1945 , D. L. Collis, from passalid beetle (N1952286a–d). In SAMA . Paratypes , M, same data as holotype (N1952287a–d); 2 M, same data as holotype except from Megisthanus sp. (Acari: Mesostigmata : Megisthanidae ) (N1952288-N1952289). In SAMA . Diagnosis. Both sexes: idiosoma 928 long, with 4–6 large pores; ventral shield with mesh-like pattern; marginal and ventrianal shields with lineate reticulations; anterolateral corner of ventrianal shield fused with ventral shield; exopodal patterning between CxII–III spotted; pedofossae III absent; CxIV-marginal suture absent; femur III and IV without lamellae, seta pv1 not significantly thickened; femur IV elongated; seta h1 unmodified. Female: setae st2 6–8, st 3 20–30, st 4 10–15 long; lyrifissure stp2 level with stp x ; sternogynial shield reticulate, but not honeycomb-like, flanked by several pores, not surrounded by a distinct smooth area. Male: sternoventral shield with suture behind genital opening demarking anterior smooth and posterior reticulated areas; genital opening not flanked by pores; seta h3 positioned posterior of h2 . Remarks. The holotype is in poor condition. Two of the paratype males (N1952288-N1952289) are in good condition. This species is very similar to F. bornemisszai , but I have tentatively retained this species on the basis of its small ventrianal shield (260 wide) and longer sternal setae.
