An updated checklist for the pseudoscorpion fauna of Hungary (Arachnida: Pseudoscorpiones) Author Novák, János text Zootaxa 2024 2024-04-04 5433 1 51 95 http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.5433.1.2 journal article 10.11646/zootaxa.5433.1.2 1175-5326 10953697 12A37ADF-99A9-4A4D-A8CC-E2C98B8B6D31 Chernes montigenus ( Simon, 1879 ) Chelifer montigenus Simon, 1879: 40-41 Not Chernes (Chernes) montigenus : Daday 1889a: 117 , 172 (misidentification, see Chernes hahnii ). Not Toxochernes montigenus : Szalay 1968: 59–60 . Not Chernes montigenus : Daday 1918: 2 ; Harvey 1991: 561 (partim); Kárpáthegyi 2007: 88 ; Harvey 2013 (partim); Novák 2015: 156 (misidentification, see Chernes similis ); Červená et al . 2020a: 223 (partim). Remarks: Daday (1889a) reported this species from the following localities: Péczel ( Hungary ), Déva (now in Romania ), and Rumunyesty (now in Romania ). Reexamination of Daday’s specimens from Péczel during present study it turned out that these are representaives of Chernes hahnii . Furthermore, neither of the samples from the other two localities belong to C . montigenus , even though they are chernetids. Likewise, the specimen reported from Hungary by Kárpáthegyi (2007) also belongs to Chernes hahnii . The specimen earlier reported from the Bakony Mts as C . montigenus (Novák 2015) proved to be a misidentification, and belongs to C . similis . As a consequence, C. montigenus is excluded from the Hungarian fauna list.
