This
species is considered a pest of bananas, and by feeding on the fruit (
Fig. 129
) it causes fruit loss and reduced marketability.
In
countries such as
Argentina
, where
B. musae
is presumably absent, there are restrictions to
Brazilian
shipments of banana if this species is detected.
It
has been recorded in the
States of Piauí
,
São Paulo
and
Santa Catarina
and recently collected in
Rio Branco
,
Acre State
, by the authors (

)
