Diagnosis . Antennular peduncle rounded to quadrate, distinctly swollen, completely filling fossa; normal aesthetascs. G1 typically longer than G2 (shorter in Hephthopelta s. str. and Tenagopelta n. gen. ; G2 shorter than G 1 in Angustopelta n. gen. and Statommatia n. gen. ). Vulvae distinct, moderately large, typically across most of thoracic sternite 6. Marine, from shallow water to depths of up to 1800 m . Type genus .
