Relation to host.
Mites are vagrant on the undersurface of leaves, causing no apparent damage.
Etymology.
The specific designation
camelliae
is from the generic name of the host plant,
Camellia
.
Remarks.
This species is similar to
Shevtchenkella philadelphi
(
Keifer)
, 1961
, but can be differentiated by tarsal empodium 7-rayed and tarsal solenidion rodlike (tarsal empodium 4-rayed and tarsal solenidion knobbed in
S
.
philadelphi
); ventral annuli with tapered microtubercles (ventral annuli with bead-like microtubercles in
S
.
philadelphi
); accessory setae distinct, 3 long (accessory setae minute in
S
.
philadelphi
).
