Phyllodon glossoides
(Bosch & Sande Lac.) P.E.A.S. Câmara
Hypnum glossoides
Bosch & Sande Lac.
was described as an Indonesian species distributed in Java (
Fleischer 1923
). It was reported from
Guangdong
and
Yunnan
provinces of
China
by
Redfearn
et al.
(1989)
and
Wu & Jia (2004)
. Our examination of voucher specimens reveals that the distribution records of
Guangdong
[
P.L. Redfearn Jr. 34376b
(PE)] and
Yunnan
[
W.-X. Xu 6452
(PE)] by
Redfearn
et al.
(1989)
are based on misidentification. Both of the voucher specimens are identical to
Phyllodon lingulatus
. While the voucher specimen [
P.L. Redfearn Jr. & Y.-G. Su 942
(PE)] used for
Yunnan
recorded by
Wu and Jia (2004)
is a species of
Symphyodon
Montagne (1841: 279)
. It is in accord with the concept of
Symphyodon
by its oblong-lanceolate leaves, serrate leaf margins and slightly decurrent bases, obvious double costae and proration at upper end of laminal cells.
