An update of Micromyinae (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) taxonomy, with descriptions of a new genus and 13 new species from Northern Europe Author Jaschhof, Mathias Author Jaschhof, Catrin text Zootaxa 2020 2020-03-12 4750 3 349 369 journal article 10.11646/zootaxa.4750.3.3 7f19f81d-eed1-4d91-a8bd-081b805056ff 1175-5326 3707458 CA4A32B1-04E7-40C6-8EE5-0FA9D331BE21 Peromyia lindstroemi sp. nov. Figs 25–27 Diagnosis. This new Peromyia is classified in the P. caricis group ( Jaschhof 2017b: 65 ) for the flagellomeres have a single girdle of hair-shaped translucent sensilla ( Fig. 25 ), and because of the presence of both a simple, subcylindri- cal gonostylus and an ovate tegmen with indistinct ventral shield ( Fig. 26 ). A combination of genitalic characters is specific to P. lindstroemi , as follows. The slightly bent gonostylus is twice as long as wide ( Fig. 26 , ↓ 3 ), without a lobe dorsobasally ( Fig. 27 ); the tegmen is slightly constricted subbasally and broadly rounded apically; the ventral shield, of which only the posterior edge is discernible, extends almost to the tegminal apex (↓ 4 ); the broad, ventroanterior edge of the gonocoxal synsclerite is somewhat angular (↓ 5 ); and below the ventral gonocoxal emargination is a large, membranous area of subtriangular shape. Females and preimaginal stages of this new Peromyia are unknown. FIGURES 24–27. Male morphology of Peromyia elongatula (24) and Peromyia lindstroemi (25–27) , holotypes. 24: Genitalia, ventral. 25: Fourth flagellomere, lateral. 26: Genitalia, ventral. 27: Gonostylus, dorsal. Scales 0.025 mm. Arrows refer to characters described in the diagnoses. Other male characters. Body size 0.9 mm . Head. Postfrons non-setose. Eye bridge 2–3 ommatidia long dorsally. A single row of 8 postocular bristles. Neck of fourth flagellomere longer than node ( Fig. 25 ). Palpus short, 4 segments successively decreasing in length. Wing. R 1 twice as long as Rs. Anterior portion of C extends beyond R 5 for once the vein width. Legs. Claws toothless. Genitalia ( Fig. 26 ). Ninth tergite interrupted medially. Dorsal gonocoxal bridge broadly rounded anteriorly. Tegmen without microtrichose lobe ventrally (which is usually present in species of the caricis group). Etymology. This species is named to honor Mattias Lindström, of Länsstyrelsen Hallands län (Halmstad, Swe- den), an enthusiastic explorer of nematocerous Diptera diversity and ecology, and collector of the holotype specimen of this new species.
