Two most parsimonious trees were found (length = 217, CI = 0.53, RI = 0.80), each differing only in the position of A. luteoflammulatus (as sister group to clades 1 + 2, or as sister group of the clade comprising all other species of Austrolebias except A. gymnoventris , and A. jaegari ). The strict consensus tree (length = 218, CI = 0.53, RI = 0.80), which is illustrated in Fig. 1, is the basis for the present taxonomic revision.
