• Small to medium-sized monkeys with hindlimbs longer than forelimbs, head oval in squirrel monkeys and rounded in capuchins, relatively large brain, large ears, and long tail that is semi-prehensile in capuchins.

• Neotropical Region.
• Moist tropical and subtropical, lowland and sub-montane, and dry deciduous and semi-deciduous, forests, scrub and farmland-forest mosaics.
• 3 genera, 29 species, 30 taxa.
• 4 species Critically Endangered, 3 species Endangered, 2 species Vulnerable; none Extinct since 1600.
