Type species: Eriococcus araucariae Maskell by monotypy. Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Slide-mounted, body elongate oval, tapering posteriorly. Antennae each with 7 segments. Frontal lobes present. Labium 3 segmented, basal segment weakly developed, bearing 2 pairs of hair-like setae (not illustrated). Legs well developed, hind coxae often with spinulae on anterior surfaces, and translucent pores; hind femora dorsally with 0–8 pores; hind tibia with 4 setae, claw usually with a denticle; tarsal and claw digitules longer than claw; spiracles often with a few associated disc pores. Discoidal pores usually trilocular and quinquelocular; cruciform pores present on ventral prosoma in a marginal band. Ventral tubular ducts present of 2 types : large macrotubular ducts present on margin, and present sparsely on dorsum; smaller type situated medially on ventral abdominal segments and submargin; microtubular ducts slender with special, bitubular orifices, scattered, present as transverse rows on dorsum. Anal lobes conical, normally heavily sclerotized, each anal lobe with a long apical seta and usually with 3 elongate dorsal conical setae and at least with 2 ventral hair-like setae. Marginal enlarged conical setae with slightly blunted or truncated apex; dorsal setae small, generally about one third as long as enlarged marginal setae and also truncate or blunt, forming transverse bands or rows; ventral setae hair-like. Anal ring well developed, sclerotized with 1 or 2 rows of pores and 8 anal ring setae. Cauda present. Comments: Worldwide, three species are included in Uhleria Cooke at present ( García Morales et al . 2016 ); only U. araucariae (Maskell) is known from Iran ( Farahbakhsh 1961 ).
