Distribution.
China
(Hainan).
Remarks.
The new species is very similar to
Homoneura
(
Homoneura
)
singularis
Yang, Hu & Zhu
from
China
(Hainan) in external characters of head, thorax and abdomen, but it can be separated from the latter by the surstylus with an apical tip, the aedeagus with a wide incision, evaginable apically. In
Homoneura
(
Homoneura
)
singularis
, the surstylus has no apical tip; the aedeagus is truncate apically without an apical incision (
Yang, Hu & Zhu, 2002
). The females of two species are very difficult to be sorted according to external characters, but they can be sorted by different shapes of spermathecae (round in
H. singularis
and semicircular in
H. hongmaoensis
). And the sizes, shapes and relative positions of brown apical spot on R2+3 and subapical spot on R4+5 of wing are variable in specimens collected from the same locality.
Etymology.
The species is named after the
type
locality Hongmao village.
