—It’s the most distinctive species in
Circaea
with densely spreading pubescence on stems and absence of an exserted nectary in the flower (
Boufford 1982
). Although
Handel-Mazzetti (1933)
stated in the protologue that the

is stored in E, we are not sure if there are duplicate sheets, and we cannot determine the
type
status by now.
