TYPE HORIZON. — Probably Callovian . TYPE LOCALITY. — Tunisia , between Tazerdunet and Ksar Kredima. Studied samples. — Five specimens : CPUN MA0504E7-8, CPUN MA0704E3-3, CPUN MA0704E4-2, CPUN MA0704E3-11, CPUNMA0904 E9-2. GEOGRAPHIC AND STRATIGRAPHIC RANGES. — Pliensbachian of Koudiat Ech Chehem ( Guigou plateau, Morocco ), Callovian ? of Tunisia . DESCRIPTION Cerioid colony with polygonal calices multiplying by extracalicular budding. Radial elements are subcompact, free or joined, slightly wavy septa. The S1 septa are generally linked to a porous parietal columella and they sometimes look cuneiform. The wall is probably septothecal, tectiform in distal parts and producing in section a characteristic zigzag line between the calices.Endotheca made of sparse vesicular dissepiments. No synapticulae. Calicular diameter: 2.5 to 6.1 mm – Distance between calices centers: 3 to 7 mm – Number of septa: approximately 26 – Septal density: 5 to 6 per 2 mm . SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES Differs from Kompsasteria Roniewicz, 1989 , Rhaetiastrea Roniewicz, 1974, Septastraeopsis Alloiteau, 1953 and Sakalavastraea Alloiteau, 1958 by its extracalicinal mode of budding (and also by its parietal porous columella in comparison to the first two genera cited above). REMARKS The present material is referred to P. soltanensis with a cf due to the highest values of diameter that are not mentioned in the initial description of the species. We observed also a tendency to produce a small depression in the center of the axial structure in some calices ( Fig. 51E ). This character cannot be observed in the holotype due to its poor preservation.
