( Figs 1–10 ) Hedychridium reticulatum hyalitarse Perraudin 1978 : 56 , part.; Linsenmaier 1997 : 254 , part. The new species is described upon a male specimen holotype ( paratype of Hedychridium reticulatum hyalitarse from Corsica , in the Linsenmaier’s collection, LNM) and six paratypes (from Corsica , Sardinia, Tuscany and Portugal , FSC). The new species belongs to the ardens group ( Linsenmaier 1959 , 1997 ; Kimsey & Bohart, 1991 ). Type material: Holotype , 3, KORSICA// Ponte Leccia/ 10.07.1972 400 m / W. The specific name refers to the Golo river valley ( Corsica ), were the holotype and the female paratype were captured. Diagnosis. Distinctive features of this new species are body color with occiput, pronotum, mesonotum, and scutellum green, mesopleuron, propodeum and facial cavity dark blue. Metasoma green with a diffuse pink to grey spot on disc of T-II; a transverse green spot on S-II. Description. Body length. Average 4.15 mm , range 3.2–5.0 mm. Head . About two times as large as long, as large as mesonotum; in top view longer than pronotum. Front and occiput emerald green, ocellar area darker, figs 1, 3. Face triangular in front view, blue whit some violet shining in color. Occiput without TFC, scapal basin with punctures at sides and transversally weakly striated in middle, laterally with long silvery setae ( Fig. 3 ); malar space shorter than antennal diameter. Mandibles brown distally, with two subapical teeth. Punctures on face and occiput close and reticulated, PS less than PD ( Fig. 3 and 10 ). Antenna dark brown with scape and pedicel green, P L/W≈ 1.5, FI L/W≈2.0, others flagellomeres L/W≈1.2. The distance between the hind ocellus and the compound eye border is about two times larger than the ocellus diameter. The clypeus is large and longer than the antennal socket diameter. Mesosoma . Underside emerald green. Tegula non-metallic brown, pronotum rectangular, shorter than mesonotum, green with some red-pink shining. Tarsi clear, light brown, tibia metallic emerald green, femora and coxa metallic blue to black. Tibiae distally light brown, non-metallic. Propodeal teeth pointed and directed outside. Pubescence white and short. Metasoma . Ventrally black, with a transverse metallic green spot on S-II. Punctures on dorsum close and deep, PS about PD. T-III distal margin round and bounded with very thin transparent rim. Intraspecific and sexual variation. All paratypes fit to the holotype , with some variation in the extension of the red color on pronotum and mesonotum. Extended red color is observed on two paratypes from Sardinia and Portugal , fig. 7–8. The females from Corsica shows a more extended red color on pronotum and mesonotum, also the spot on T-II disc is larger, fig. 5. In the males from Sardinia and Tuscany this spot is less bright colored, near grey ( Fig. 4, 7 ). FIGURES 1–3 . Hedychridium goloensis sp. nov. , holotype 3 from Corsica. 1. Dorsal view; 2. Lateral view; 3. Face (above) and metasomal T-II and T-III (below). Sexual dimorphism. The only female paratype from Corsica shows a more extended red body color on pronotum, mesonotum and metasoma. In particular the diffuse spot on T-II is larger, almost covering the entire disc. The punctures on pronotum and mesonotum are fine, dense and regular ( Fig. 10 ). Male capsule. The male capsule is outlined in fig. 9 and is taxonomically diagnostic. Only the volsella is distally well sclerotized; the digitus is thin and two times longer than cuspis: a distinctive feature of this species. Distribution. France ( Corsica ), Italy (Sardinia, Tuscany), Portugal . Fenology. All specimens of the type series were captured in June–July, irrespective of the sites.
