Genus
Neoxorides
Clément, 1938
Type
species:
Xorides nitens
Gravenhorst, 1829
.
Neoxorides
is a small Holarctic genus comprising twelve species (
Yu
et al.
2016
;
Johansson & Klopfstein 2020
). The Western Palaearctic fauna of the genus was recently revised by
Johansson & Klopfstein (2020)
. Three species of
Neoxorides
were known to occur in the Nearctic region north of
Mexico
hitherto (
Townes & Townes 1960: 390
;
Carlson 1979: 352
), and one undescribed species of
Neoxorides
is described from Central
Mexico
in this paper. This is the first record of the genus from
Mexico
and the southernmost finding of
Neoxorides
in the world.
Species of
Neoxorides
are known as idiobiont parasitoids of xylophagous
Coleoptera
(
Townes & Townes 1960
;
Carlson 1979
;
Johansson & Klopfstein 2020
).
