["Habitat in Syria."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 2: 970 (1763). RCN: 5054. Basionym of: Malva crispa (L.) L. (1759) . Type not designated. Original material: Herb. Burser XVIII(1): 6 ( UPS ) ; Herb. Clifford: 347, Malva 7 ( BM ) ; [icon] in Dodoens , Stirp. Hist. Pempt., ed. 2: 654, 653. 1616. Current name: Malva crispa (L.) L. ( Malvaceae ). Note: Fryxell (in Syst. Bot. Monogr. 25: 275. 1988) indicated 870.27 (LINN) as holotype , with an isotype at S (presumably sheet 286.7). However, neither of these collections appears to have been in Linnaeus' possession in 1753, and they are not original material for the name.
