Dasydorylas
Skevington, 2001
: in
Skevington & Yeates, 2001: 435
.
Type
species:
Pipunculus eucalypti
Perkins, 1905
; by original designation.
The genus
Dasydorylas
has only recently been erected as a result of a comprehensive phylogenetic study of world
Eudorylini
by
Skevington & Yeates (2001)
. Although representing a set of morphologically clearly different species in regard to the other genera of
Eudorylini
, its limits are not clearly defined yet and its members can only be recognized
“…by a combination of characters, primarily because of the character conflict generated by the enigmatic basal members of the clade.”
(
Skevington & Yeates 2001: 438
). Future taxonomic and phylogenetic investigation will hopefully give a more precise picture of this group.
