( Figs. 23 , 32 , 55 , 62 ) Material studied . Holotype : ♂: two labels: " 11.51S 142.38E QLD / 12km SSE Heathlands / 26 Jan- 1 Mar 1992 / P. Feehney, closed / forest MALAISE#3#4" [white, printed], " MICROSCYDMUS / ( SCYDMOMICRUS ) / queenslandicus m. / det. P. Jałoszyński, 2013 / HOLOTYPUS " [red, printed] ( ANIC ). Paratype : ♀, same data except " 1-21 Mar 1992 " ( ANIC ). Diagnosis. Male and female: body light brown with slightly darker head; frons broadly subtrapezoidal; punctures on head large and dense, adjacent to each other, contrasting with fine and unremarkable punctation of pronotum and elytra; BL < 0.60 mm ; pronotum and head equally broad; pronotum with ante-basal transverse groove; EI 1.500. Male: aedeagus with lightly sclerotized and indistinct internal armature visible only in subapical region. Description. Body of male ( Fig. 23 ) moderately convex, elongate and slender, with moderately long appendages, BL 0.500 mm; cuticle glossy; body light brown with slightly darker head and slightly lighter appendages; vestiture yellowish. Head subtrapezoidal, broadest at eyes, HL 0.075 mm , HW 0.125 mm ; tempora barely marked; vertex weakly convex; frons broadly subtrapezoidal. Eyes strikingly large and strongly projecting laterally from the head silhouette, coarsely faceted. Punctures on head dorsum distinct, large and deep, adjacent to each other; setae short, sparse and suberect. Antennae slender, AnL 0.200 mm; antennomeres I–II elongate, III–X transverse; XI as long as broad. Pronotum ( Fig. 32 ) in dorsal view oval, broadest between middle and anterior third, PL 0.125 mm , PW 0.125 mm ; anterior and lateral margins rounded; posterior margin shallowly bisinuate; base of pronotum with two pairs of small and shallow pits, internal pair connected by transverse impression. Punctures on pronotal disc fine and inconspicuous; setae sparse, thin, short and suberect. Elytra oval, slightly more convex than pronotum, broadest near middle, EL 0.300 mm, EW 0.200 mm, EI 1.500; basal impressions short; elytral apices separately rounded. Punctures on elytral disc as fine as those on pronotum; setae short, sparse and suberect. Hind wings well developed, about twice as long as elytra. Legs moderately long and slender, without modifications. Aedeagus ( Fig. 55 ) small, AeL 0.080 mm ; stout, with lightly sclerotized and indistinct internal armature located in its subapical region; each paramere with long apical seta. Female . Externally indistinguishable from male. BL 0.500 mm; HL 0.080 mm , HW 0.130 mm , AnL 0.200 mm; PL 0.130 mm , PW 0.130 mm ; EL 0.300 mm, EW 0.200 mm, EI 1.500. Distribution ( Fig. 62 d). NE Australia (N Queensland). Etymology. Locotypical, after Queensland. Remarks. Microscydmus queenslandicus differs from all Australian congeners in having distinctly and densely punctate head dorsally, extremely large eyes and broadly subtrapezoidal frons; this combination of characters allows for unambiguous species identification.
