HOLOTYPE
FEMALE: Mandible proximally rather strongly tapered, with upper tooth slightly longer than lower tooth. Malar space about 0.2 times basal mandibular width. Face polished, with very sparse setiferous punctures, about 1.15 times as wide as medially high. Lengthtothickness ratio of first flagellomere about 5.5. Head, in dorsal view, with gena distinctly narrowed but not rounded behind eye; posterior ocellus separated from compound eye by 1.2 times its own maximum diameter; ocelli forming a rather equilateral triangle; occipital carina present ventrally as a vestige, joining hypostomal carina. Pronotum almost bare, in profile rather short and mediodorsally rather long. Mesoscutum with some whitish hairs, centrally almost bare, anteriorly moderately rounded, with notauli smoothly impressed. Mesopleuron highly polished, with some setiferous punctures, with some light hairs; epicnemial carina low, fairly reaching the level of lower corner of pronotum; epicnemium with a secondary carina adjacent to front coxa. Metapleuron very weakly convex, smooth and polished; submetapleural carina entirely absent. Propodeum in profile rather weakly declivous, smooth, polished and almost without punctures; pleural carina complete. Fore wing length about 10.0 mm; vein
3rsm
complete, enclosing an obliquely rhombic areolet.
Hind
wing with abscissa of
Cu1
between
M
and
cua
a little bowed, about 4.0 times as long as
cua
. Length of hind femur about 4.0 times its breadth. Metasoma quite stout; tergite 1 about 1.0 times as long as posteriorly broad, lateromedian carina absent, lateral carinae present, but interrupted centrally; tergite
1 in
profile dorsally evenly convex; tergite 2 about 0.6 times as long as posteriorly broad, with a distinct central area, lateral oblique and posterior transverse grooves polished with distinct coarse punctures; tergites 35 with a wide, slightly biconvex smooth central area, the surrounding furrows, in part, punctuate. Ovipositor projecting beyond apex of metasoma by about 1.5 times length of hind tibia; ovipositor shaft slender, almost straight, rather weakly laterally compressed; ovipositor subapically subcylindrical; apex of lower valve dorsolaterally expanded to partially enclose the upper valve, bearing about six weak apical teeth, apex of upper valve with three weak dorsal teeth.
Head black; clypeus brownish orange, mouthparts orange (except for black teeth of mandible); antenna black with dark brown scape and pedicel; mesosoma black except for orange mesoscutum, scutellum, apex of postscutellum, dorsal margin of pronotum, subalar prominence of mesopleuron and tegula; metasoma orange with tergites from 5 to apex blackish (lateral margins and apical margin orange); ovipositor sheath black. Fore and middle legs orange; hind leg brown except for black coxa and yellowish apex of trochanter, whole trochantellus, and base and dorsal margin of femur. Wings yellowish, the fore wing with apex distal 3
rsm
blackish, and with a blackish median band extending from
Rs
&
M
to level of middle of pterostigma; hind wing with a blackish subapical dorsal band; pterostigma black with light apex.
THE
PARATYPE
FEMALES agree well the
holotype
but the length of the fore wing varies from 8.0 to
10.7 mm
, the number of the lower teeth of the ovipositor from 6 to 8 and that of the upper valve 3 to 5. The clypeus and the mesosoma can be ± blackish, and the hind femur ± orange.
THE
PARATYPE
MALES are similar to the females in structure, but the mesosoma is in every specimen wholly black and the hind femora mostly orange; the fore and middle coxae, trochantera and trochantella are either orange or whitish. The fore wing length varies from 8.0 to 9.0 mm.
DIAGNOSIS:
A. taunoi
differs most distinctly from all the other known species in the genus, except
A. guayanaensis
, by lacking the submetapleural carina. It differs from
A. guayanaensis
most distinctly by having the pleural carinae of the propodeum and by lacking strong lateromedian carinae of the first tergite.
ETYMOLOGY: The specific name is given in honour of Mr. Tauno Sääksjärvi, father of the first author, for his continuous support and help during my studies.
