Remarks
This species was described from a specimen of each sex which had been labelled with the manuscript name “
Brachyaulax rufipes
” by Cameron. One female and four males were found labelled “
B. rufipes
” in Cameron’s hand. Of these two of the males were mounted together; these could not have been seen by Dodd as he only mentioned one male. A third male is labelled as a type but is not, as the antennae are the wrong colour. The female and remaining male are the types. The female is labelled “type” and the male “cotype”, following Dodd’s published, designation so the female is the
holotype
by original designation. The
holotype
is mounted on a card, and has its wings torn and partly missing.
