The species can be easily distinguished from other species of the complex by narrower head and smaller eyes, from D. bimaculatus , D. flavoculatus , D. hubeiensis and D. hainanensis by larger and sparser punctation of abdominal tergites, from D. bimaculatus and D. hubeiensis also by larger elytral spots, from D. bimaculatus , D. siamensis , D. bellulus and D. hajekianus by larger body size, from D. siamensis , D. bellulus and D. hajekianus also by unicolor femora.
