COMMENTS: Phallic morphology similar to that characterizing
Mayermys
(Lidicker, 1968)
. Certain derived cranial and dental features unite
Neohydromys
,
Mayermys
,
and
Pseudohydromys
as close relatives (e.g., all share the derived pattern of cephalic arterial circulation;
Musser and Heaney, 1992
).
