Body surface fully or partially with ornamentation represented by cuticular and/or cerotegumental ridges forming reticulate pattern, sometimes prodorsum and pteromorphs striate or granulate/rugose. Rostrum rounded. Lamellar and sublamellar lines present, long, thin or costula-like, parallel, curving backwards at ventral end, sometimes lamellar lines bifurcate at dorsal ends. Rostral setae medial to lamellar lines and distanced from them. Lamellar setae lateral or medial to lamellar lines. Bothridial setae clavate, fusiform, lanceolate. Dorsosejugal suture and postanal porose area present. Notogastral setae represented by 10 pairs of alveoli, microsetae or normal, medium to long setae, one pair on pteromorphs. Octotaxic system represented by porose areas, saccules absent, one pair of Aa . Median pore absent or present in females and males, undivided. Pteromorphs clearly bilobed. Without thorn-like structures behind pteromorphs, dark band anterior to genital aperture and anal and adanal neotrichy. Adanal lyrifissures located close and lateral to anal aperture. Leg tarsi with three claws. Leg setae not modified. Statement of monophyly: Monophyletic, the backbone of this genus is represented by the subgenus Flagellozetes ( Cosmogalumna ) Distribution: Oriental , Neotropical and southern Palaearctic regions Number of known taxa: three subgenera, 12 species
