African Dacus (Diptera: Tephritidae); New Species and Data, with Particular Reference to the Tel Aviv University Collection Author White, Ian M. Author Goodger, Kim F. White (2006) separated the Apostata and Triater groups by the presence or absence of a pecten. The strong similarity of D. pseudapostata sp.n. to D. apostata , from which it differs in the absence of a pecten, indicates that these two groups are inseparable. Additionally, known hosts of both groups are Zehneria spp. ( Cucurbitaceae ) ( White 2006 ), and Virgilio et al . (in press) found that DNA studies muddled representatives of both groups into a single well defined clade.
