Genital capsule: d dorsal view (2380x, 10 m); e ventral view (1440x, 10 m); e1 apical detail (4440x, 3 m); f mesoescutum and scutellum (1210x, 10 m). TYPE MATERIAL Holotype male. BRASIL . ALAGOAS: Maceió, April 2000 , ex egg of Calpodes ethlius on Canna spp., Iracilda M.M. Lima collr. ( ESALQ ). Seventeen paratypes (males) with same data as holotype ( ESALQ ). Two paratypes (males) with same data as holotype (UCR). DIAGNOSIS Trichogramma iracildae is distinguished by the broadly separated and laterally placed ventral processes and the usually bifid intervolsellar process. This character is also observed in T . marthae , but the intervolsellar process is different. Other important characteristics in T . iracildae are the wide genital capsule and the short and apically rounded posterior extension of the dorsal lamina. Samples of T . iracildae were anlysed for ITS2 sequence of the rDNA and the results showed it to be different from that of any other species known previously (Raul P. Almeida, pers. com.). VARIATION Unsocketed setae present in the first section of the flagellum; basiconic sensilla varying in number in the position 2; setae of the posterior track reaching the apex of the wing; intervolsellar process bifid in 12 of the 19 specimens studied. ETYMOLOGY The species is named after Professor Iracilda M. M. Lima (UFAL), the collector of the type series.
