Gastromyzon pariclavis group
Diagnosis. This species group is defined by the following suite of characters: an elongated snout, with snout length 50.0-73.1 % HL; a rounded and protruding head when viewed dorsally; an angular gill slit; a distinct subopercular groove, which is continuous with the pectoral fin origin; caudal fin appearing to have the distal top and bottom rays elongated when the fin is not stretched out; absence of secondary rostrum; absence of postoral pouch; absence of scales on abdomen; and coloured fins in life. Males and females of
G. embalohensis
have red and yellow fins, respectively (Rachmatika, 1998). In
G. venustus
, both sexes have reddish fins.
