[Identification key] Macropterous male. BL 6.50; HL 1.20; HW 1.10; ANT I 1.15, ANT II 0.95, ANT III 0.85, ANT IV 0.82; EYE 0.30; PL 2.60; PW 2.47; FORELEG: FEM 1.87, TIB 1.72, TAR I 0.12, TAR II 0.32, TAR III 0.42; MIDLEG: FEM 2.25, TIB 2.20, TAR I 0.12, TAR II 0.52, TAR III 0.45; HINDLEG: FEM 2.50, TIB 2.75, TAR I 0.12, TAR II 0.52, TAR III 0.46. The macropterous form is herein recorded for the first time. It is similar to the brachypterous form in color and morphology, except for the wings reaching apex of abdomen, with a small oval white macula on basal portion, and one elongated, slightly constricted in the middle, white macula on apex ( Fig. 15 B). Dorsal surface of proctiger bearing long setae, with a small elevation at base; pygophore not emarginated on ventral surface; paramere strongly curved on dorsal surface, with truncated apex ( Fig. 16 F). Diagnosis. This is the only species of the genus in which the pronotum of the male is strongly expanded anteriorly ( Fig. 15 B). Female without expansion of the anterior lobe of pronotum. In both sexes, antennomere IV pale to yellowish; abdominal sternites covered by rounded punctations, except on the sternite VII. Brachypterous wing with a very small elongated white macula at base, not starting from humeral angle; another very small and less conspicuous whitish macula at apex. Discussion. Paravelia dilatata is known from both macropterous and brachypterous specimens, and in the latter form, both basal and apical maculae are very small. The authors, in the original description, omitted an important character of this species, which are the several suboval punctations on the abdominal sternites, described until the moment for five other species of the genus: P. amapaensis sp. nov. , P. a n t a , P. bilobata sp. nov. , P. hungerfordi and P. foveata . In addition to this character, the apical macula of the first four species also has a similar shape, all of them narrowed in the middle. Material examined.
