Diagnosis.
Gymnometriocnemus (Raphidocladius) kamimegavirgus
can be separated from other species of the genus
Gymnometriocnemus
by having well-developed, long virga (about the length of the gonocoxite); AR 0.9-1.1 (n=5); LR1 about 0.53-0.56 (n=3); wing membrane with setae at the apex only, occasionally with 1-2 setae proximally in cell an; R2+3 situated in the middle between R1 and R4+5; dark brown almost blackish thorax and head, slightly paler abdomen and legs.
Remarks.
Our examined material is from eastern, central and northern Norway, frequently collected near streams, rivers and moors. Male adults fit well with
Brundin's
description of
Gymnometriocnemus volitans
, and Sasa &
Hirabayashi's
description of
Gymnometriocnemus kamimegavirgus
except for slightly fewer setae on the abdominal tergites (
Brundin 1956
;
Sasa and Hirabayashi 1993
;
Sasa and Okasawa 1994
). The species is Holarctic in distribution.
