The cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) of Suriname including the description of two new species, five new combinations, and three new records Author Sanborn, Allen F. 0000-0001-5729-7106 Department of Biology, Barry University, 11300 NE Second Avenue, Miami Shores, FL 3316 - 6695, USA asanborn@barry.edu text Zootaxa 2020 2020-11-20 4881 3 453 481 journal article 9525 10.11646/zootaxa.4881.3.2 1f301d41-4842-4f5f-ad27-c52b70c04ab5 1175-5326 4283890 0A4C1899-9AA5-46E5-AD0A-98CE695A43AB Genus Hyantia Stål, 1866 new record Hyantia Stål 1866: 169 . Type species. Cyclochila honesta Walker 1850: 45 . ( Brazil ). Remarks. Marshall et al. (2018) reassigned the genus to Fidicinini with the synonymy of the Hyantiini . The species of Hyantia are fairly large, green species (body lengths 31–44 mm ). The species of the genus possess a non-prominent anterior postclypeus, head slightly wider than mesonotum, anteriorly constricting pronotal lateral margins, wide pronotal collar, abdomen about as long as distance between apex of postclypeus and posterior cruciform elevation, incomplete timbal covers exposing timbals dorsally, triangular opercula, pygofer distal shoulder with small point, uncus with dorsal crest, and large lateral branch of the uncus. I have an old note that I have seen a specimen of Hyantia from Suriname . However, this note predates when I started to retain label data and I was unable to find the specimen in a collection due to the COVID-19 pandemic limiting curator availability in the collections where the specimen may have originated. Hyantia bahlenhorsti Sanborn, 2011a was described as many as 10 years after this note was made so there is a question as to which, if either, of the known species of the genus the record represented. Distribution. Species of the genus have been reported previously from Brazil and French Guiana ( Metcalf 1963a ; Sanborn 2011a ).
