Status
Regular visitor. Common year-round in New
Guinea
waters (Beehler & Pratt 2016). In Biak waters moderately common; regularly observed perched on exposed coral reefs. Also seen offshore in mixed flocks with other terns (
Sternidae
spp.), boobies (
Sula
spp.
) and frigatebirds (
Fregata
spp.
).
