Genus
Aulites
Richardson, 1987
Type
species.
Atretia brazieri
Crane, 1886
by original designation (
Richardson 1987, p. 45
).
Emended diagnosis.
Similar to
Cryptopora
but without dental plates, rectimarginate to gently uniplicate. Foramen large, with narrow marginal or auriculate disjunct deltidial plates. Crura non-digitate maniculiform. Hinge plates well developed to absent. Cardinal process as paired semicircular thickenings or in form of depression.
Remarks.
In the erect, auriculate deltidial plates and lack of hinge plates, the new species shows significant differences from the
type
species, requiring emendation of the diagnosis (cf. ManceƱido
et al
. 2002).
