Sci. Nat., Bot. ser. 2, 17: 82. March 1842 [nom. illeg.]. Erysimum purpureum Aucher ex J. Gay, Erysim. Nov.: 7. January 1842 . Type: “Habitat in Armeniae montibus (Auch.! in herb. mus. Par., Montbret! in herb. Webb.)”. Lectotypus (designated here): TURKEY : sine loco, s.d., AucherEloy 162 ( P [ P02272760 ]; isolecto-: BM [ BM000522232 ], G [ G00371620 , G00371630 ], G-BOIS [ G00332152 ], K [ K 000075610 , K000075611 , K 000075613 ], MPU [ MPU017777 ], P [ P02272761 ]) . Notes. – Boissier’s name is illegitimate because it was based on the same type collection of E. purpureum Aucher ex J. Gay. Gay’s name has priority and needed lectotypification. We were unable to locate the Montbret syntype and as P 02272760 was annotated by Gay we choose it as lectotype . The lecto- and isolectotype sheets at P were annotated by Polatschek in 1983 as holotype and isotype, respectively. However, he ( POLATSCHEK, 2011: 416 ) cited one sheet as a holotype and did not cite the other or specify which one was meant.
